Despite having a “real major,” Zobeide continued performing in college.

After obtaining a M.A. in Political Science, Zobeide was offered a position in political resarch.  So, she packed up a U-haul and moved to DC.

In June 2001, Zobeide enrolled in a Middle Eastern dance class at Joy of Motion and fell in love with the genre. She has studied Egyptian and Turkish dance with Elizabeth Artemis Maurat, and Egyptian dance with Laurel Gray, Autumn Leah Ward, and Saphira. Workshop instructors include Delilah and Nourhan Sharif.

Zobeide also returned to her dance roots by studying contemporary and classical ballet and modern. Into her own “belly dance” style, she incorporates elements, such as “extension,” from these dance genres.

Zobeide performas at event throughout DC Metro.  She teaches Modern Egyptian Technique at Kinetics Dance in Ellicott City.
